CHANDIGARH CHAIR model PJ-SI-28B was predominantly seen at university housing at the Panjab University and in administrative buildings all over Chandigarh during 1955-56. Similar models are currently on display at the Le Corbusier Center and The City Museum in Chandigarh.

Iconic Chandigarh Chair, 1955, with A-shaped legs which are specific for many Chandigarh items. Raw and reduced to the minimum. That is perhaps the reason, why it embodies nonchalance, simplicity and the beauty of Indian askese. There is an intriguing contrast between the massive wood pieces and the thin caning.

This version is sleeker than its counterparts making it a nifty fit for smaller spaces. The solid teakwood frame has a backrest and seat with braided caning. The armrests sit on top of ‘V’ shaped legs that are connected at the bottom by two crosspieces. Similarly, the slightly tilted and curved backrest is connected to the seat by two supports below.

Chandigarh chair is an iconic piece of design. It is raw in its simplicity.
Its patinated teak gives Chandigarh chair a strong character, showing all that traces of age and its uniqueness. It is finally a historic piece from a UNESCO World Heritage site, done by the most important architect of the 20th century. It's for daily use. We offer bigger Chandigarh chairs sets too.
